Updates and Communication

It’s been quite on the “posting update” front, hasn’t it? I’m going to do my best to rectify that!

Right now, the campaign to get this film made is still going, and we have around a month left to go to get the funding we need to at least get started on principal photography, which is a fancy way of saying “start filming”. In the mean time, we’re writing out the kinds of questions we want to ask, so that we can get the best answers and therefore content for the film. We want to go deep into the personalities and personal lives and stories of the costumers and cos-players, so we can make a real impact on the hobby and on the view the world has of the hobby and the people in it.

Like I wrote in the campaign, “it’s not just about great costumes, it’s about great people”, and it really is. And that’s what we want to make sure to capture on film.

Now, while writing is coming along as far as questions, writing for the rest of the film is coming along as well. We’re writing the different parts that we plan to use to delve into any and all controversial topics such as the evolution of terms like “geek” and “nerd” going from being used to bully us and segregating us from everyone else, to terms that are now being accepted and certain people even openly labelling themselves with those terms, the “fake geek girl”, popular media cashing in on “geeks” and “nerds” and costumers, the REAL Women Of Costuming, and the community-dividing “Cosplay =/= Consent” to go into just some of what we plan to deal with. The way that we plan to get into these topics and present them from the perspective of costumers and cos-players so everyone knows where many of us stand on these topics is proving to be a really entertaining way to educate people! We don’t want to be the typical soul crushing snoozefest that usually accompanies the typical documentary!

Now in the start of this post, I mentioned about rectifying the lack of update posts showing where we’re headed and where we’re going. I don’t want to reveal anything just yet because, honestly, I don’t know if it’s something that can be done reliably, so I don’t want to commit myself to something that I just can’t get done, but I do want to ramp up the communication other than the constant promotion and networking I have been doing since the launch of the campaign. Obviously once the campaign is over, and if we have at least some of the funding needed to start filming, there WILL be a CONSTANT stream of updates rolling in, in the forms of written posts and video updates, but it’s from now until we can begin filming where I need to pick up on the updates.

So keep your browser pointed here, head over to the Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/RedKeepProductions , and my Twitter account – you can follow it by checking it out right on this site on the right hand of the page (realize it’s my personal twitter account, so it doesn’t revolve solely around my films or Red Keep Productions), and keep up on any and all updates coming in!

Talk to you soon!
